Appeal After Canoes Stolen From Selby
11:26am 24th June 2013
Selby police are appealing for witnesses and information after two canoes were stolen from Sycamore Close in Selby.
Officers say the theft happened between 4pm on Saturday 22 June and 4.30pm on 23 June 2013 when the two adult sized canoes were taken from an insecure shed in the rear garden of the property. One is described by police as a red, heavy duty canoe, the other is a racing canoe in silver with a yellow line along it and a plastic toggle.
It’s possible that after stealing the canoes, the thieves escaped by paddling them along the river which runs alongside the property.
Police are asking for anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in Sycamore Close, or saw the canoes being taken or paddled away to contact them.
They would also like to hear from anyone who has any information about where the canoes are now to get in touch.
PC Peter Cooper of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “These were bulky items to conceal and I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen them being loaded onto a vehicle or being paddled off down the river which runs near to Sycamore Close. They will be difficult to conceal and obvious to spot, and anyone who has seen them is asked to contact the police.”
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Peter Cooper of Selby Police or email email@example.com
If you would prefer to remain anonymous, information can be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
