Malton police are appealing for the owners of some distinctive pottery to come forward following the arrest of three men.

Police who intercepted a pick-up whose occupants were suspected of stealing scrap metal, discovered the pots when they stopped and searched the vehicle.

At around 6.50am on Thursday 20 June 2013, police say they were alerted by garage workers in Kirkbymoorside after they witnessed some scrap motoring parts being taken from outside the garage.

Police say they were able to locate the vehicle which was travelling along the A170 towards Scarborough. The pick-up was stopped near East Ayton where the three occupants were arrested on suspicion of theft and their vehicle and its contents were seized.

Sergeant Neil Campbell of Malton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We suspect that the pottery has been stolen and have released some photographs in the hope that the rightful owners of goods will recognise them and get in touch.”

Anyone who believes the pottery is theirs, is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Malton Police.
