Greg Scott on Countdown

Our Weekend Breakfast presenter, Greg Scott has been making another small-screen appearance. He's previously been a quiz show host, but this time he's a contestant... on Countdown!

Greg says... "The show was recorded just three weeks ago – It was lovely to see those in the production team who were still working on the show 8 years after my 13 year stint as warm-up man on the show (or Audience Liaison Executive as I liked to call myself) had come to an end.

There had, of course been a lot of changes since 2003:

The show is now shot in Manchester instead of Leeds...

The set is blue, shiny and made from off-cuts of sets from other shows (I was sat on a chair that had been de-fumigated and de-crusted as it had been used previously for 5 months on The Jeremy Kyle Show)...

AND, of course, there was no Richard, and no Carol. Richard is now enjoying himself in gameshow Heaven, spending most hours of most days in a hot-tub drinking champagne with the mothers of ex-hostesses from 321 & Play Your Cards Right. Carol is running The Vorderman School of Making a False Laugh Sound Real. The pass-rate there isn’t very high.

Only kidding, Cazza ;-)

The NEW Richard and Carol, Jeff and Rachel, were utterly charming. Jeff is a complete gentleman – Something that I found extremely difficult to be myself, when I was in such close proximity to the gorgeous Rachel... But I managed. Just.

Because of legally binding confidentiality agreements I am not allowed to tell you the result of the show prior to broadcast. All I AM permitted to say at this stage, is that my opponent was / is a lecturer in mathematics at Bristol University."
