"Let Me Fly" International Women's Day Concert
inspired by the Indomitable Spirit of Hull Heroine, Amy Johnson

Trailblazing aviator Amy Johnson provides the inspiration for a unique musical celebration in her hometown, Hull UK City of Culture 2017, to mark International Womens Day. The "Let Me Fly" concert will feature the truly original and powerful sounds of contemporary singer/songwriters Katie Spencer, Ali Bullivent and Paula Ryan who just like Johnson, seek to push the boundaries and make ground-breaking music unhindered by gender stereotypes or traditional norms. To reflect Johnson's worldwide perspective, highly accomplished Indian instrumentalist Ranjani Maheesh will perform Live from Bangalore via real time video and audio link-up. In keeping with the strong links Johnson always maintained with her home city, the line-up for "Let Me Fly" is beautifully completed by the glorious harmonies of wonderful local choirs "Heartsong Hull" and "Hull Saturday Singers", with members drawn from across Hull's vibrant community of singers.
