Thursday 22nd November

Coppergate Centre Christmas Light Switch On and Late-Night Shopping

FREE ENTRY

From 5pm onwards

Held in York Coppergate Centre’s square with the Minster FM roadshow from 5pm. Christmas music, games and giveaways. FREE PARKING available from 6pm in Piccadilly multi-story car park. Join James Watt as  ‘Baron Hardup’ as he’ll be turning on the Christmas lights joined by his fellow panto stars from Cinderella at 7pm. There will also be a special performance from Tadcaster Grammar School of 'Tad Gram Style' group.

 
     
     
 

Friday 23rd November

Norton Christmas Light Switch On

From 4.30pm to 7pm

FREE ENTRY

Held in the Derwent Arms Car Park, Norton with Christmas lights lining Commercial Street. Event features the Minster FM Roadshow and entertainment from The White Star Brass Band and carol singers from Norton Primary School plus Father Christmas’ arrival by sleigh. We’ll be switching the lights on at 6.30pm.

 
     
     
 

Friday 23rd November

Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland and Ice Factor Christmas Light Switch On, McCarthur Glen York Designer Outlet

From 6.30pm

FREE ENTRY

Held in the south car park of the York Designer Outlet with free parking. Come to see Yorkshire Olympians, Ed Clancy, Luke Campbell and Lizzie Armitstead turn on the 30ft Christmas tree at the centre of the Ice Factor ice rink. Following this, visitors will be treated to exclusive performances from the Imperial Ice Stars ice skating troupe. Fans of the Olympic athletes will also have the opportunity to meet them in the VIP area of the Ice Factor café from 7.15–8.15pm. In addition there will also be an authentic fun-fair offering a variety of traditional fair rides, such as a carousel, a 1930s speedway, helter skelter and many other rides and games for everyone to enjoy.

 
     
     
 

Saturday 24th November

Pickering Christmas Light Switch On

From 4pm – 6pm

FREE ENTRY

Held in the Market Place with a Christmas market throughout the afternoon and hog roast from 4pm. Fancy dress competition from 4pm. Pickering Junior Choir performing at 4.40pm. Santa will arrive in town at 5pm and switch on the lights at 5.30pm. At 5.40pm the Stape Silver Band and carol singers will perform.

 
     
     
 

Thursday 29th November

Malton Christmas Light Switch On

From 4pm – 7pm

FREE ENTRY

Held in the Market Square, Malton with excellent illuminations around the town square. Minster FM roadshow on stage from 4pm with Christmas games and giveaways. Then throughout the evening you’ll be entertained by a range of local bands and choirs. We’ll be turning on the lights at 6pm with Santa.

 
     
     
 

Sunday 2nd December

Tadcaster Christmas Market and Festival

10am – 3pm (approx)

FREE ENTRY

Held in Kirkgate and the surrounding streets. Street market and fun fair, Santa’s grotto, craft fair in the Riley Smith Hall, choir singing outside the Ark at 3pm, nativity festival in the church at 3.30pm, plus Christmas tree festival, traditional barrel organ, and food and drink available.

 
     
     
 

Saturday 1st December

Selby Christmas Light Switch On

From 11am – 4.30pm aprox

FREE ENTRY

Held in the Market Place, Selby with wonderful Christmas lights all down the main street in Selby with an all-day Christmas market from 11am up until the switch on. Minster FM roadshow on stage with games and live music from local choirs and brass bands, plus we’ll be switching on the lights with the Mayor of Selby at 4pm.

Pocklington Christmas Fair and Late-Night Shopping

From 5.30pm until 8.30pm

FREE ENTRY

Held in the Market Square. Features Pocklington & District Lions Santa’s Grotto and parade from 6pm, stalls, donkey rides, fairground, mulled wine and mince pies, carol concert, live music from 'Will Heppel & Friends', Father Christmas arrives 6pm.
